Jaeyoung Kim, a violinist with a delicate tone and intimate gentle sensibility, made his debut with Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 13. After graduating from Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School, he entered the Korean National University of Arts and received Nam-Yun Kim. Subsequently, he graduated from the master course of Hochschule fur Musik Und Theater in Munich and studied under Christoph Poppen.

He won the prize in Ewha Kyung-Hyang, Korea Times, and Donga Music Competition at an early age. In 2003, he won the 2nd prize at the Young Violinist International Competition in Greece and the 4th prize at the Sarasate International Competition. In addition, he was awarded the 3rd prize and the special prize at the 2007 Isang Yun International Competition, the MIMC prize as the finalist of the Montreal International Music Competition in 2010, and the 3rd prize at the 37th Luis Seagal Competition.

Jaeyoung Kim, who has shown passion and talent for chamber music since childhood, won the 2nd prize, the Youngest Award, the Modern Music Award and the Mahler Prize with Siegen Quartet at the Prague Spring International Music Competition in 2005. Afterwards, he organized the Novus Quartet and ranked 3rd place in the Osaka International Chamber Orchestra Competition in 2008. Starting with this, he won the prize at the Lyon International Competition in 2009 and the Haydn International Competition in 2012. In the autumn of 2012, he won the 2nd prize at the ARD International Competition, which is the world's most prestigious string quartet, and the 1st prize at the Salzburg Mozart International Competition in 2014 and started to inform his fame. It is both the youngest and the first records as a Korean, so is evaluated as a new history of Korean chamber music.

Kim actively performs as a soloist with the Seoul Philharmonic, KBS Symphony, Suwon Philharmonic, Ulsan Philharmonic, Gunsan Philharmonic, Korean Soloists, TIMF Ensemble, Polish Gdansk Philharmonic, Vienna Mozart Orchestra and Musikverein. In addition, he works with fellow musicians by performing Brahms Violin Sonata with pianist Yeol Eum Son and the recital with pianist Yekwon Sunwoo.

His Quartet, Novus Quartet, won the New Artists of the Year Award in the Daewon Music Awards in 2015 and re-established his position as a team in Korean classical music. He won the Grand prize in the category of chamber music at the 2nd Seoul Arts Center Awards in 2017 and also the ‘The Artist of the Year’ at the 11th Performing Arts Management Award and imprinted their name. Moreover, he regularly performed and was invited to the Berlin Philharmonic, Pierre Boulez Hall, Cologne Philharmonic, Munich Heracles Hall, Wigmore Hall in England, Vienna Musikverein, the Concert House, and also renowned festivals in worldwide such as Musikfest Berlin, Musikfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Wissembourg music festival, Marvao festival and Chamber music Garden Suntory hall.

From the first album with the French label ‘Aparté’, he released three albums with the same label including ‘Death and the Maiden’ and the album with pianist Michel Dalberto in 2019. In 2022, the recording of the Shostakovich string quartet was released.
