
Yong-Woo ChoDouble Bassist
Bassist Yong-Woo Cho appears in many important venues as a soloist, chamber musician, and principal bassist of the orchestras.
Mr. Cho achieved Bachelor of Music degree from Seoul National University; also achieved Graduate Diploma and Master of Music degree from Hochschule für musik und Tanz.
He received a special award at the J.M.Sperger Internationalen Wettbewerb (competition) and a special award for contemporary music at the Köln Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Wettbewerb (competition).
In addition, he is the winner of Dong-Ah Journal Competition, which is the most renowned competition in Korea; also the first bassist to win the whole section of Seoul Baroque (Korean Chamber Orchestra, KCO)Competition and Music Journal Competition.
Currently, he is a member of JK Ensemble, Hwaum Chamber Orchestra, Seoul Virtuosi, Utopian Classic Ensemble, Classikan Ensemble, Ad Musica, Chamber Music Society - Round Table, Seoul Modern Ensemble, MEG Ensemble(senior member), Munus Ensemble, and bassist of Lower-String Quartet.
And he is currently the music director of the Gyeonggi Primo Arts Troupe.
Also, he is a faculty member of Kangwon National University, Gachon University, Seoul Art High School, Kaywon High School of Art, and Yewon School of Music; he also was a bass faculty at Sookmyung Women's University, Saejong University, and Jeonnam National University.
As a principal bassist, Mr. Cho often gets invitations from many important orchestras such as Gwangju Symphony Orchestra, Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Gwacheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Cheonan Philharmonic Orchestra, Chungbuk Provincial Symphony Orchestra.
In addition, he had been a guest columnist of the Strad Magazine.
